Oh, the Sweetness!

My three youngest siblings were in bed by the time I got home today after finishing a 10-hour painting job with one of my other sisters. They heard me coming up the stairs and started calling out for me to say goodnight to them. So I made the rounds between the rooms, reaching my youngest brother last.

Rilian: "No hugs. You're all paint."

(This was true. I hadn't changed out of my paint clothes yet.)

Me: "Okay. Can I have a kiss?"

(Yes, I have stooped to asking my baby brother for goodnight kisses.)

Rilian promptly pecks me and then flops back down onto his pillow. I put his covers back on, say goodnight, tell him I love him, and head for the door. Just as I'm about it close it, he says,

"I love you better."

How cute is that?! I melted inside. Completely melted.

Awwwwww!!! :-) Baby brothers are TOO CUTE sometimes...which is good, because it makes up for the times they are not. :-P

Seriously though, there's nothing sweeter than unexpected love. :-) What a lovely boy.

  2. Hi Danielle! How are you? How are your studies going at PHC?

Lol, yes, the too-cute times definitely make up for the I'm-going-to-be-a-monster times (an adorable monster, but still...)

You're absolutely right - there is nothing sweeter :) My sisters and I have taken to mouthing our "AWWWWWs" to each other because he's almost as smart as he is cute: he's figured out that he can use said cuteness to his advantage, lol. So, we're trying to gush about him more covertly now ;)

  3. That is sooo sweet! I love little guys. I love little girls too (my daughter is an absolute angel so I never get mad at her). =)

My little guy is the sweetest just right before he goes to sleep. During the day, he drives me nuts with the mess and the antics, and why oh why doesn't he listen when I tell him to do something? But bedtime comes and he's calm and quiet. Then he gives me hugs and kisses to make up for the spilled milk and the Lego pieces scattered all over the stairs. =)

  4. How cute! There's nothing like the feeling of being loved by a little one. I have six siblings ranging from 1 year old to 14, and I love spending time with them.

A close family is truly a blessing.

  5. Awww! That's adorable! I was tucking my little sister in bed last night (she's 7 years old) and instead of getting a kiss, I realized that I hadn't looked at her very closely when I was babysitting. Both of her eyes were pink and I quickly realized that it was pink eye. Hopefully she didn't share that one! :)

  6. Cherie - I know! Me too :) I definitely have a special place in my heart for little boys, especially the mischievous ones. When they're sweet, they're very, very sweet. Your little guy sounds adorable (very familiar too...)

Christine - I know what you mean :) I have eight siblings, ranging from 23 to 3. My family is my biggest blessing; I couldn't agree more with you. It is so nice to have built-in friends.

Krista - I know! Those are the moments that make me feel all warm and goey inside. Oh, no, I hope you didn't catch pink eye from your sister. Are you both OK?
